Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by tick bites.  The highest occurrence of tick bites is during the summer months of June, July and August. There are several early symptoms that you should be aware of that indicate Lyme Disease. These symptoms show up between three and thirty days of a bite. Mosquito season has been in full swing for a few months now and Fox 8 recently put out an article with a lot of helpful information about these pests, and how to deal with them in North Carolina. There are a few basic facts that are good to know about mosquitos such as the females are the ones that bite, since they need blood to make their eggs, eggs are laid in standing water, and they can carry some serious diseases, such as West Nile Virus.
